Description

The City of Burlington provides the ability for citizens to report sick, injured, orphaned or abandoned wildlife within our municipality. Animal Services does not respond to calls on the major highways, please call MTO 1-866-673-4781.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to the animal after they pick it up?

  • Animals are health assessed at the shelter to determine ability to successfully rehabilitate.
  • If animal is not able to be rehabilitated animal is humanely euthanized so it is no longer suffering.

What can I give to an animal if they are in distress? Can I feed baby animals?

  • Please do not provide animals any food. 
  • Wait until an officer arrives to assess the animal.  
  • It is illegal to harbor or rehabilitate wildlife under the Ministry of Natural Resources without a Wildlife Rehab Licence.   
  • The shelter is not licenced to rehabilitate wildlife; staff will reach out to other organizations if potential for animal to be rehabbed.
